Meet the Kiamas
We are excited to introduce you to the Kiama family! We met Brian and Julia, and their two children, Adriel and Tadya, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in December 2022. Brian had recently graduated from Trinity Fellowship Pastors College and he and Julia were in the process of seeking the Lord’s direction for the next chapter of their lives, when we showed up from Nairobi for a visit. We hadn’t met them before and had no idea what they were considering for the future. Immediately upon being introduced to Brian, we discovered a mutual desire to plant a gospel-centered church in the heart of Nairobi, specifically, a Sovereign Grace Church!
Since that first meeting we’ve had meals together in their home, in our home in Kenya, and discussions and prayer over texts and video calls. Our love for one another, as well as our excitement to plant this church has just continued to grow with every passing day.
They still reside in Addis Ababa, where Brian serves as a Pastoral Intern at Trinity Fellowship Church, is going through ordination with Sovereign Grace Churches, and is taking online courses with Union School of Theology in Wales for his Master of Theology (M.Th) degree. Julia works as one of the directors in their Classical Conversations homeschool group. They plan to move back to Nairobi about the same time we do, in August 2024.
They made the following video several months ago that tells how God called them to himself, introduced them to Sovereign Grace, brought them to Pastors College in Ethiopia, and gave them a vision for planting a church in Nairobi. If you don’t have time to watch the whole thing at once, watch what you can and come back later, or skip to the sections that interest you. Though we are planting this church together and will be co-equal elders, we do plan for Brian to be the lead pastor of Sovereign Grace Church Nairobi.
