Retro Hollywood

For one night our junior and senior classes stepped out of Africa and back in time, to Hollywood California and the Golden Age of movie-making. That was the theme for this year’s RVA Banquet, which took place on June 2. Aside from the fact that blankets were needed to keep warm in windy and cold Kijabe, the night went off beautifully.

Our first off-campus Midterm in a couple years followed the weekend after banquet. Students and staff really enjoyed the chance to get away from school for a long weekend and spend time with family or with their guardians.

We are currently on the down-hill sprint to the end of term. Next week Jonathan will finish up teaching through the book of Romans at Moffat. Josh and the RVA seniors only have two more weeks of high school, and then they head for the Kenyan coast as a class on Senior Safo (Safari), to celebrate their achievement and God’s faithfulness. As sponsors, we get to join them as adult chaperones.

We arrive back on campus at the end of the term, welcome Hannah and Henrik for a visit and to attend Josh’s graduation from Rift Valley Academy on July 12!

We will then be heading back for a short trip to the US to visit colleges with Josh and Sophie, attend a conference, and spend time with family in Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois. Our longer Home Assignment will be after Sophie graduates next year, but if you would like to connect with us, please let us know.

Thankfully Pray

  • Praise for a restful and safe off-campus Midterm
  • Thankful the junior class was able to pull off a wonderful Banquet in honor of the seniors
  • Pray for COVID cases on campus to decline and the continued lessening of protocols next term
  • For the senior class to finish well and their transition during the next year
  • For our short trip to the US in August – we still need housing in Mpls and a vehicle to use
  • For Jonathan’s strange throat pain he’s had for a couple weeks
  • For RVA families who make daily sacrifices for the sake of Christ’s name to be exalted all over Africa – for the joy of all peoples!
