Rift Valley Return
After a long, but fairly smooth trip, we landed into a rainy Nairobi morning on January 1. Once our luggage was collected, it was another hour and a half drive when we finally pulled back into our beloved Rift Valley Academy.
It’s been such a joy to reconnect with our friends and coworkers here, even with all the COVID restrictions in place. What a blessing to be able to unpack and settle in for longer than a few months – not saying that we’re all completely unpacked!
We were able to have an outside socially-distanced worship service last Sunday, which is the first Sunday morning service they’ve had here since last March. The kids started online school on Monday, dorm students begin to come back on the 15th and in-person school will resume on the 18th.
Thanks to all of you who reached out to us while we were in the U.S. We’re sorry to those we didn’t get to connect with. What a strange season! Still, it was a blessing to experience all that God had for us during Home Assignment. Thank you so much for your prayers and all the ways you support us.
Prayer & Praise
- Praise for a smooth trip back to Kenya – even with getting negative COVID tests back on time. Some of our colleagues had difficulty.
- There are a few staff families that are yet to arrive in Kijabe – pray that they can come soon.
- Pray for parents and students as they transition to dorm life again in a couple weeks – lots of details will need to come together: safe travel, COVID tests, good health, etc.
- Pray for our campus, as we focus on unity with one another, we would look first to the God who unites us together in Christ.
- As we come back into community living, pray for humble hearts, even when there is disagreement with how to navigate a boarding school through the rest of this pandemic.
- Pray for us as we continue to settle in, find a new rhythm as a family in this different term, help cover for remaining needs on campus, and respond to gospel opportunities both within and outside RVA.
- Overall for God’s protection and his provision.
