Prize Worth Fighting For
When every day is just another struggle
Prize Worth Fighting For, Jamie Kimmett
And every choice is an act of war
Gotta pray, gotta press on
To the prize worth fighting for
Ever had one of those days that felt like another struggle? Like every decision you make, even to get out of bed, is a battle? Every choice to hang onto hope even when you don’t feel it is like an act of war, a fight for faith?
I wasn’t particularly discouraged this morning, but when I heard this song (which I’ve heard before) and actually paid attention to the lyrics, I found they resonated with my heart and really encouraged me. Along with his Word, God has used music so powerfully throughout my Christian life to bring me hope and to shape and challenge me.
So in the midst of our difficulties, this song uses truth to encourage us to fight to look to Jesus (1 Timothy 6:12). He is the prize that’s worth the struggle. Today I’ve gotta pray, gotta press on. (Philippians 3:13-14) It won’t always be like this (Revelation 21:4). This world isn’t all there is (1 John 2:17). His love is better than anything else (Psalm 63:3)! He himself is our reward – and he is worth the fight!
Take a listen below. I hope you find it as encouraging as I did as we press on in hope during these difficult days.
Praise & Prayer
- Jonathan and Josh went out for a piki (motorcycle) ride last week and ended up running over a sheep that suddenly crossed the road. After looking back and seeing it get up they went on with their ride. Returning 30 minutes later they found the road blocked with a mob of people demanding payment for the, now dead, sheep! With some help from our local pastor they were able to negotiate a payment and continue their journey back home!
- On June 6 the president of Kenya extended the restrictions that have been in place since March, another 30 days. That means no travel in or out of the country until at least July. We are just fine here – but we can feel a bit “trapped” when we think about it.
- Please pray for Hannah & Henrik as they make decisions regarding their future.
- Pray for Tiana as she continues to raise prayer and financial support for her global internship in Southeast Asia next Fall.
- The decision has been made that RVA will remain online first term next school year. Pray for the impact on the missionary families we serve as well as the staff and families here in Kijabe.
- We plan to return to MN for Home Assignment this summer and hope to see many of you!
Wait a minute – is Sophia taking Driver’s Ed????? Wow, has time flown by…… Can’t wait to see you y’all! Praying you will be able to leave – and return – without more delays.
Thanking God for the Leslie family! Praying the Lord continues to make your family strong in His strength and gives you strong support in the knowledge of His everlasting love.
