Dinner With 9th Graders
Fact
Four girls. Four countries. The gospel bearing fruit to four African nations.
In an effort to get to know the ninth grade class better we decided a few weeks ago to invite groups of students from both the girls and boys dorms over each week. Here’s what we learned last time:
The four girls we invited each come from a different home country and have parents who work in four different African countries. One is from the U.S. whose parents work in Kenya with World Gospel Mission. Her father is a heart surgeon at Tenwek Hospital, a few hours from Kijabe. Another is from Canada whose parents work in Burundi with Serge, proclaiming the grace of Christ in a local hospital. The third girl is from Germany and her parents work as part of a team in the Horn (location not identified because of security concerns). The last girl is from England whose parents work amongst the Alagwa people group in Tanzania with Africa Inland Mission. Exciting things are happening among this people group! More to come…
Family
- Praise for the rain that has come to Kijabe! Local Kenyans are so happy to see their shambas (gardens) growing again.
- Third term has gotten off to a great start – we are already approaching Midterm break. Many things are going on this term with the response to the cultural audit, leadership structure discussions, staff transition after many years, and seniors preparing to graduate and head off to different cultures they may have little experience living in.
- Lilli just returned from a Ladies’ Retreat that was a blessing to her and so many other women from our organization, some coming from remote areas. A team from a church in Iowa came to serve these ladies over the weekend with the theme of hope (Romans 15:13). Please pray these women would continue to be encouraged by what they learned.
- Please pray for Sophia’s health. She has been dealing with a chronic cough and allergies for over two months.
