Caring Community

Fact

At the beginning of the year, each middle and high school student is assigned to a small group of students who will meet together three times a term in a staff member’s home. The purpose of Caring Community is to give the students and staff a chance to get to know one another better in an informal setting. In such groups, staff members can be sensitive to the young people in their groups in order to pray for and minister to their needs. It also gives the students a chance to get into a home situation more often.

We have six seniors in our Caring Community and have spent time together just hanging out talking, having Mario Kart tournaments, playing Mexican Trains, and getting together with other groups to play games together. And of course, eating! Caring Community is considered a success from the student’s point of view if there is plenty of good food!

Family
  • We thank God for an amazing family trip to Madagascar with Lilli’s parents (more to come in a future blog)
  • We’re also thankful to be back serving at RVA and to now be a week into the term
  • Please pray for Jonathan’s dad who has had many complications with a knee replacement surgery over the last two months. They’ve now had to remove the new joint because of infection and are recommending a fusion – which would limit his mobility
  • Pray for our chaplaincy team as we go through a process of growing in our ability to work together for the benefit of directing our students and staff to Jesus
  • Pray for Lilli and the other two nurses to be warmly sensitive to the needs of the students – and to be discerning as we care for them physically but also in addressing heart issues
  • We thank God for a group of older students to feel called to encourage the rest of the student body to live for Christ in the midst of their day to day lives
