To Kenya by the Numbers

On December 27, our family of 6 minus 1 (sorry Hannah – oh this is going to be a hard goodbye) will board a plane and begin our journey to Kijabe, Kenya. We will be traveling with at least 20 pieces of luggage (and that’s looking harder by the day). If we could take a direct flight we would fly 8,172 miles from Minneapolis to Nairobi. Fortunately, we don’t have to be on the plane that long. First we’ll fly the 4,155 miles to Amsterdam in 8 hours, 14 minutes on a plane that holds 293 passengers. After only an hour layover, we board a 747, which can carry 660 passengers, and will take us the remaining 4,151 miles in 8 hours, 5 minutes to Nairobi.

We’ll spend the night at the AIM guest house in Nairobi before driving the 40 miles to Kijabe and Rift Valley Academy the next morning. Seven days later second term begins!
