A Truckload of God’s Provision

When we first began this journey that we trust will end with us in Kenya, I prayed that the Lord would bless our efforts above and beyond all that we could imagine. This morning I considered the fact that we have only 42% of our monthly financial support pledged.

I thought, “Lord, why are you withholding your abundant provision? Have you not called us to Kenya?” To which I felt the Lord respond, “I haven’t withheld my provision for you. You just haven’t noticed.”

And then He brought to mind so many evidences of His gracious supply for us over the last many months – none of which we deserve:

  • I lived to see another day. Not only have I not been consumed on account of my sin, but I have been given the presence of Christ Himself! “But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:21–23)
  • God has given me such a wonderful wife and family and now time to strengthen our marriage before we go and to prepare with the kids for a drastic change in our lives
  • Our house sold in a week for the price we were asking
  • God has raised up supporters to contribute $42,000 and pledge over $3,000 per month since March
  • He’s also raised up 150 of you praying regularly for Rift Valley Academy, missionary families in Africa, and for our ministry
  • Our church, Oakridge Community Church, has been pouring out their support for our family and our future ministry. Even now I see volunteers in our church parking lot filling up a garage and semi trailer full of items for a huge garage sale they are having to help raise money for us to go
  • We’ve had three people offer their homes for us to live in after we close on ours August 15
  • We get to spend some more time with my and Lilli’s family before we leave, without the stress of moving and packing and boarding a plane right away

I can’t read through that list without getting choked up. God has indeed been kind to us. I believe He wants to do more than provide for our financial need to get to the mission field. He wants to make provision first of all in our own hearts with Himself and then to keep forming us into the likeness of Jesus – however slow that may be! He’s faithful. We trust His work and His timing.

In Other News…

We had the privilege of getting shots together as a family last week. That was fun! Actually it wasn’t too bad as we had a really good nurse. The pain for a few of the kids came later in the afternoon!

Please pray for two church missions committees meeting on Wednesday evening, August 3, to determine if they will support us. May those members be prayerful and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. We entrust the outcome to Him.

Finally, if you’re close to Stillwater this weekend for the fair, stop by Oakridge Community Church for a huge garage sale that will benefit our support for Kenya. Thurs-Sat. from 8-4. More information here. Spread the word!

Grateful to God for you all!
