Connect Week in Peachtree
Lilli and I are now at the Africa Inland Mission headquarters in Peachtree City, GA for a week-long orientation, at the end of which, we’ll find out if we’ve been appointed as AIM missionaries! It’s been like drinking from a fire hose with all the information coming at us, but we are grateful to be here. Observations so far:
- We love the AIM family. And it really is a family! We’ve enjoyed meeting new friends who are going through Connect Week with us, as well as reconnecting with friends we haven’t seen in years (an RVA classmate of Lilli’s, former RVA staff members, and someone we went through AIM orientation with in 1997!).
- One of my favorite sessions was hearing our US Director talk about the history and mission of Africa Inland Mission over it’s 120 years of existence. You would think that would be boring. But I thought it was worshipful – maybe even tear inducing! Christ-centered churches among all African peoples. I could give the rest of my life to something like that!
- Another session that impacted us was on what God was doing all over Africa through AIM missionaries. They are working among the hard places of North Africa, proclaiming the gospel in creative ways in the heart of Islam. Many are working among unreached peoples in Central, Eastern, and Southern Africa. They are even spread across major cities throughout the world ministering to the African Diaspora, those who are born in Africa but now living, working, or going to school in America or Europe. And yet there are only 1,000 AIM missionaries working to bring the gospel to 1,000 unreached people groups in Africa. AIM isn’t the only organization working for the spread of the gospel in Africa. Still – pray to the Lord of the harvest!
We are tired but filled with expectation of how God wants to use us jars of clay in bringing the gospel to the peoples of Africa. We see more than ever the place that Rift Valley Academy has in this picture, and so are even more excited about the roles we feel God has called us to there.
Thanks for praying!
